SUNNY CHAN HEAN KEE
Sunny Chan Hean Kee took up ballet at an early age of 8 with Ethel Foxcroft in Kuala Lumpur and was the first male ballet student in Malaya then. From 1964 he was tutored under Martin Rubernstein at the Borovonsky Ballet School, Melbourne, whilst he was in boarding school and at university in Australia. Also continued his ballet training in London with Andrew Hardy and John O’Brien amongst others, in the 70’s. Returned to Malaysia in 1978 and had then performed with Frances Ballet Academy, Comscape, Sutra Dance Company, Harmony Academy of Ballet and Singapore Ballet Academy. By profession an Architect, and presently President of The Dance Society of Malaysia since 1990 except between 1995-1997 when he was the Vice-President. He is still the President of The Dance Society of Malaysia, and is involved in organizing classical ballet productions, annual solo classical ballet competitions and classical ballet workshops in Malaysia.
